About:Visa on Arrival

Is the 5-Day Visa still available at the Hong Kong-Shenzhen border?

Hi,

I've been planning to travel to Hong Kong for about two weeks. During this time I'd like to visit a Chinese friend who lives in SZ for five days using the five-day visa. I'm British and have a UK passport.

Would this still be possible for me?

Thank you for the information. A couple more quieries:
Can I obtain a visa at Futian checkpoint or would you say the best crossing is Luohu?
Also, is the 5 Day visa 4 nights or 5 nights? For example, if I entered Shenzhen on Monday would I have to leave on Friday or Saturday?
Thanks again for your help.

Thanks again for the information; that's really helpful.
In that case, my plan is to go to Shenzhen via Luohu on Sunday and return to Hong Kong on Friday evening.

Yes, of course. I have noticed that false rumors are quite abundant regarding the eligibility of UK citizens to obtain a Shenzhen VOA. The truth is that there was not a single day or better to say a single minute in the last several months when UK citizens were denied a Shenzhen VOA because of their citizenship. To conclude, you can rely on obtaining a Shenzhen VOA. The best border crossing, as always, is Lo Wu / Luohu and the price for UK citizens is 304 CNY, preferably paid in Chinese cash.

There is no visa office at Futian. In reality, Shenzhen VOA is available only at:

- Lo Wu / Luohu
- Huanggang
- Shekou ferry terminal

If you enter Shenzhen on Monday, you are allowed to stay in the city until Saturday at 23:59 (11:59pm). The counting of your available days always begins at the beginning of the day after your arrival. If you enter Monday, your first day is Tuesday. In other words, you can stay in Shenzhen for 5 nights.

This is a good plan :)

Just one more detail. You are allowed to return to Hong Kong by any available mean of transport. In other words, you can use even a high speed train from Shenzhen directly to West Kowloon station in Hong Kong.
