I have a 8 hours for layover at Pudong airport before I fly on to my destination.

Will I have a enough time to spend a few hours for sight seeing in downtown Shanghai? What kind of transportation to get me to downtown back and forth fast? Thanks.

Yes, during the 8 hours, you can go to Nanjing Road, People's Square.

Take maglev train at the airport, and get off at Longyang Road Station. It just takes no more than 8 mins on the way. Then subway line 2 can take you to East Nanjing Road & People's Square. To Lujiazui, you can use the sightseeing tunnel on the Bund for a quick travel. Just have a relaxing short trip and then take a taxi back to PVG to catch your flight.
Have fun!
