About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I apply for 240 hour free visa if coming from Hong Kong?

Hi, I'm a US citizen. My route will be Taiwan -> Hong Kong (2.5 days) -> Shenzhen (2.5 days) -> then go back to Hong Kong and fly out of Hong Kong to back to US.

Actually, you cannot use 240 hour visa free transit because this is not a formal transit, but a round trip. In other words, the best solution for you is to apply and obtain a Shenzhen 5 days visa (affordable 130 CNY price), preferably at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing. Like this, you will just appear at Luohu visa office, apply for a visa, you will obtain it within a short time and proceed to Shenzhen. After your stay in Shenzhen you can take any border crossing and any mean of transport, high speed train included. Please, have in mind that Shenzhen visa limits you to Shenzhen city limits only. If you need to travel to some other destinations beyond Shenzhen, then an alternative route should be taken in order to make you eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen.
