It is about 7,000 kilometers long. It was opened by Zhang Qian in Han Dynasty for political reasons, but it turned out that it effected the economies and cultures of China and Europe more than politics. All together he went through the road for two time, one was from 193BC-126 BC, the second time was 119BC-115BC.
