About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US > HK > CHINA > US?

American Citizens coming from US and travelling in hong kong for 3 days, and spending an additional 9 days in mainland particularly beijing and shanghai. planning on flying out of shanghai to us,

is this itinerary acceptable for the 240 hour TWOV?

Yes, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. You can travel from Hong Kong to mainland China by air, train from West Kowloon railway station or by ferry, but not by bus, on foot or car. It is up to you to decide. You should just take care that your flight from Shanghai to US does not have a landing of any kind in Hong Kong. Have a nice visit to China.
