About:Visa on Arrival

Traveling from USA to Hong Kong, and would like to go to Shezhen

I am traveling from the USA to Hong Kong, and would like to go and stay two nights in Shenzhen, and Shenzhen only. Will I be able to get a Shenzhen 5-Day Visa on Arrival? Thank you.

Yes, you can do that without any problem. You will take a MTR suburban train from Hong Kong city center directly to Lo Wu where you will clear Hong Kong exit formalities. After that there is a short walk to Luohu that is a mainland China counterpart crossing where you will apply for a Shenzhen 5 day visa that costs 130 CNY (most overseas bank cards are accepted, debit and credit), but you can pay by Chinese cash as well. You do not have to do anything in advance.

When your stay in Shenzhen is over you will return to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and any mean of transport, high speed train included. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen.

Apologies for the additional question, I land at 10:55pm (local time) in Hong Kong. Do you happen to know the hours of operation of the border crossing at Luohu? I am just trying to see if I can proceed directly there from the Hong Kong airport, or if I will need to stay for one night in Hong Kong until the border crossing station at Luohu reopens the next day. Danny, since your landing is very late, Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing visa office will be closed until you reach it. The best alternative is Huanggang border crossing where you can apply for a visa round the clock 7/24, 365 days in the calendar year. Transport options from HKIA to/through Huanggang port exist even after your arrival, so you can use this particular scheme. I hope this helps.
