What documents do I need to enter China to get a tourist visa? Do I need an appointment? What's the fastest service available? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I arrive on a Thursday. I want to get my Visa ASAP in Japan.

Documents for you:
Basic Documents
Passport
Visa Application Form (completed online in advance) and Photo
Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation, etc. or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China.

You don't need a appointment and just go to the nearest CVASC and apply for the express service at an extra cost.
