About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flight to Taiwan via Guangzhou

I will be flying from UK to Taiwan via Guangzhou in November. Can I use the 144 hour visa to visit Guangdong on the way out to visit friends and then the 24 hour visa on the return leg as I have a 20 hour layover and I want to stay in a hotel for the night? Thank you.

Yes, both of your itineraries are eligible for the visa-free transit. Upon landing, go to the 24/144-hour transit counter to apply for a temporary stay permit and then you can leave the airside to enter the city.
