About:Visa on Arrival

Entering Shenzhen from Hongkong

Hi,

We(Canadian Passport holders) are visiting HK for a holiday and wanted to visit Shenzhen while we are in HK for about 2 days. Do we need to apply for a 5-day visa at the port of entry e.g., Luohu Port? Can I not apply for it beforehand, meaning before I enter HK?

No, you cannot apply for a Shenzhen 5 days visa before you reach the border crossing. This is strictly visa on arrival, so you will obtain one on the day of your travel to Shenzhen. I know, you are afraid of crowds and you are rightly think in this way and the only thing you could do to significantly reduce your waiting time is to take a direct morning ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen. After your stay in Shenzhen, you can return by taking any mean of transport and any border crossing of your choice.
