About:Visa on Arrival

Applying for the Visa before entering Shenzhen

I am a Hong Kong resident (HKID Holder) with a Philippine Passport living in Hong Kong, and would like to go to Shenzhen for a trip.

Would it be possible for me to apply for a Shenzhen VOA a day before travelling (e.g., on a Saturday), but enter the following day (e.g., on a Sunday)? And would the Shenzhen VOA applied to from the Luohu Port be eligible for use when going to Shenzhen on the High Speed Rail (Kowloon)?

Thank you so much!

Bryan, it is not possible to obtain a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival a day before your travel. This is possible only on the day of travel. Also, it is not possible to use high speed train - West Kowloon station for this purpose. The person that has obtained a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival can enter Shenzhen only from Luohu to Shenzhen on foot and then by metro, taxi, bus toward the center. High speed train can be only used when a visit to Shenzhen is over and when a holder of such a visa wants to return back to Hong Kong. In other words, a person is allowed to take a high speed train only for a return trip back to Hong Kong. Here I have to warn you that the citizens of the Philippines, although technically and formally eligible for 5 days Shenzhen VOA, have quite a poor success in obtaining such a visa. In other words I would suggest you to postpone your visit to Shenzhen or to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.
