About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24-Hour TWOV for KUL - SZX - PEK - YVR

Hi,
I hold a Malaysian passport and my flight was changed to include an extra layover in Shenzhen. I'm now scheduled to arrive in Shenzhen at 0045 and leaving Beijing on the same day at 1655 with an 8-hour and 5-hour layover respectively. I'm not sure if it matters for the visa free transit, but the airline on the first leg (ZH) is different from the second and third legs (CA). They are all under one itinerary nonetheless.

Would this flight setup be covered by the 24-hour visa free transit? I'm just a little confused finding other searches that note exclusions apply for Shenzhen and Malaysian passport holders.

Also, would I be applying for the 24-hour TWOV at both SZX and PEK airports? Or would it just be at SZX?

Really appreciate your input. Thank you!

Your itinerary is a very good example of perfect 24 hour visa free transit scheme through more than one Chinese city. In short, you are fine and you do not need any kind of visa.

You are fine to travel via both Shenzhen and Beijing and also by different airlines. It important that your entire transit time is shorter than 24 hours and in your case this is fine,

You will apply for a temporary entry permit upon your landing in Shenzhen and after that you will fly on a domestic flight to Beijing. In other words, you will ask for a temporary entry permit just once - in Shenzhen.

Also, there is no exclusion of Malaysian citizens in Shenzhen.
