About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Taiwan to Shanghai

Can I travel from Taiwan to Shanghai and back to Taiwan before I return to Singapore on a 144hr visa free entry to Shanghai?

Unfortunately, the route:

Taiwan -Shanghai - Taiwan

Is not a transit, but a return trip, so not eligible for 144 hours visa free transit.
