i have humanitarian visa - can i apply for a z visa without leaving the country?

Hi all, I had a Z visa which had been changed into a humanitarian visa during the pandemic. This is still valid, but I have now found a Chinese company that would like to employ me. Can I apply for a Z visa with their help? Would that be possible without leaving the country? Thanks in advance!

Dear Aaron, thank you so much for your answer. That is good to know, because once I leave the country I don't when it will be allowed to come back.
