How long can you get for a humanitarian visa?

My work visa in china runs out at the end of June but I want to stay longer for various reasons. How long can you get for a humanitarian visa? I really want another 3 months. Is this possible?

You may get a temporary visa for 1 month and it usually takes 7 days to process it. After, it's possible to extend it for another month. But it's not regular for 2 more months.
