About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

U.S. citizen on vacation in South Korea for 3 weeks would like to visit Qingdao for one day.

I have a U.S. passport and will be visiting several cities in South Korea in September 2020. I would like to fly from ICN International Airport in Incheon, South Korea to Qingdao on a Saturday and return to ICN the same day. Do I need a special visa to do this? Thanks.

You need a tourist visa as you are not in transit to a third country. Also you will be spending more time standing in lines than seeing the actual city that way.
