About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hour Transit visa

What is the process of requesting the transit visa. Do you notify the airline at check-in or notify the Embassy ahead of time?

Actually, this is not a transit visa, but 24 hour visa free transit or in other words a travel without a visa.

You can be eligible for this option, if you are traveling from country A via China (country B) to country C and when your entire transit time in China is less than 24 hours. For example, you are allowed to travel on the route:

Los Angeles - Guangzhou - Bangkok

or New York - Beijing - Chengdu - Singapore

If you have just one stop in China, you can use 144 hour visa free transit, but if you have more than one stop, you are allowed to take just 24 hours visa free transit.

You have to be focused when booking your flight tickets. Also, you don't need to notify anybody in advance. You will just arrive with your tickets at check-in where you will declare that you will travel to your destination via China using 24 hours visa free transit.
