About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

UK > Shenzhen > Hong Kong

So I'm right in thinking I could fly to Shenzhen from the UK, stay for up to 6 days then catch a train to Hong Kong using the 144 hour visa?

You can use this itinerary, but with one exception. You cannot use a train from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, but a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou terminal to Hong Kong. Also, you will have to book a ferry on the mentioned route online, in advance through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company. After your booking, you will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and have that printout with you. This is your proof that you will be in transit.

By the way, when traveling on 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province, you have to know that you are not limited to Shenzhen only, but you can travel and stay throughout the entire province.
