About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Flight from Singapore to U.S. with 2 layovers in China

I am flying from Singapore to the U.S. and have a layover in Haikou (HAK) and Beijing (PEK). My flight arrives to Haiku at 15:25 on the 11th and my flight from Haiku to Beijing leaves at 21:10 on the 10th and then my flight from Beijing to Seattle leaves at 16:05 on the 11th. This means that technically I will be in China for 24 hours and 40 minutes. Is there any chance I will be able to get the 24-hour visa, and if not will the 72-hour visa one work? I have heard that the visas over 24 hours are only valid at the airport you get in at. Thanks for the help.

Kevin, I would be the happiest man to tell you that there is some possibility to travel visa free on your itinerary, but this is simply not true. Although you have exceeded 24 hours for just a short time, the authorities are very strict, so you are advised to obtain a Chinese visa in advance. It would be the best if you were in US because US citizens are eligible for 10 year long term, multiple entry Chinese tourist (L) visa. In case if you are in Singapore right now, you will probably not be available to obtain such a visa, but you will have to obtain a single entry transit (G) or a tourist (L) visa at Singapore CVASC. You will first ask, of course, if they offer this possibility of 10 year visa for US citizens, although the chances are slim when you apply abroad.

Also, you are not eligible for 72/144 hours visa free transit when you have two consecutive stops within mainland China. Sorry.
