Australian Visiting for 1 day

Hello, I have been advised that Australians can no longer get a visit on arrival to Shenzhen. Is this true or do we need to apply for a standard Chinese visa? I am travelling and cannot hand in passport for a visa application therefore hoping it can be done on arrival.

I only wish to visit for one day and will be travelling from Hong Kong. Thank you for your advice

The truth is that Australian citizens are eligible for a 5 day VOA. The price for a VOA is 168 CNY and the best border crossing to choose is Lo Wu / Luohu. The best option of payment is to bring the Chinese currency in cash and you can easily obtain it at one of many Hong Kong money changers. It is also advisable to bring a passport size photo in order to speed up the application procedure.
