About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel from Australia to Abu Dhabi

Hi, In a weeks time I will be travelling from Brisbane, Australia, have an 18 hr stopover in Shanghai, then travel on to Abu Dhabi. I take it that when I arrive in Shanghai, I go to the 24/240 hr visa free transit counter, to apply for stamp, after getting fingerprint scan. I can then collect my luggage and then can leave the airport in Pudong to go to a hotel overnight, until I need to go back to get the flight to the UAE. Is this correct.

Just a tiny correction... You will fill out arrival card first and then perform fingerprinting. After that, you will just proceed to the immigration and skip 24/240 hour visa free transit counter. You do not need that counter because Australian citizens are not subjects of 24/240 hour visa free transit because they can enter mainland China for up to 30 days visa free. Have a nice journey.
