About:China Visa-free Policy

Australia - Shanghai - Beijing - Japan Visa Free

Hi,
I am completing the following trip in 2026. Do I qualify for visa free access? Is it ok to depart China from a different city to which I entered?
1. Australia -> Shanghai (flight)
2. Shanghai -> Beijing (train)
3. Beijing -> Japan (flight)

China offers the 30-day visa-free entry for Australians until 12/31/2025 but it's very likely to be extended. So if nothing else, you will qualify for the visa free entry in 2026. And it's OK to depart from a different city.
