Shanghai One Day Metro Ticket

Is the one day metro ticket available for purchase at every metro station?
Is it available from the ticket machine or do you have to buy from an agent?
Is there a distance that can be traveled or can you go to the end of each line? (In some places only for travel in zones 1-3 can you use a day pass.)
