About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling through Xiamen - Do I need Visa?

Greetings,

I am a Malaysian national, will be travelling to USA using Xiamen Airlines
My flight is from Singapore-Xiamen-Los Angeles, and it is in 1 single ticket from Xiamen Airlines
I will have an 8 hour layover in Xiamen before departing to LAX

Do I need to apply for China visa or I am eligible for the 24H TWOV?
Do I need to go through Immigration for transit? or after landing i will be able to go straight to transfer/transit area? I am not planning to got out from the airport as the transit time is short

Unfortunately, Malaysian citizens, along with dozen others, are required to have a Chinese (G) visa obtained in advance if in transit in Xiamen airport regardless if they are traveling on a single or separate tickets. Xiamen airport is practically unique in China in this regard for requiring a visa even for transits of just a couple of hours. You will pass through immigration inspection although you will remain within the transit area.
