About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Turkish citizen eligible for 24h visa-free transit in Xiamen if layover <24h and not leaving airport

I am a Turkish citizen flying from Hanoi to Sydney with a layover in Xiamen of less than 5 hours, and then returning from Sydney to Hanoi with another layover in Xiamen (also under 20 hours). Both are less than 24 hours, and I will not leave the airport. Do I qualify for China’s 24-hour visa-free transit? Do I need to do anything before travel?

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa and you should not do anything before your travel. At the time of your check-in in Hanoi you will just declared that you are traveling to Sydney via China (Xiamen) using 24 hour visa free transit. You will present your flight tickets and after a short check you will receive your boarding passes. Upon your landing in Xiamen you will just walk from one to the other gate. You do not have to perform any formality and you do not need to fill out any form, literally. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs control. You will just cross a short security check (metal detector and stuff) between the two gates. The time of your layover you will spend in the transit zone of Xiamen airport. You will experience the same when returning back to Hanoi via Xiamen. In any case, this is quite hassle free travel. Have a wonderful journey both ways.

Thanks a lot! I actually got the same response from the airline I’m traveling with yesterday. I truly appreciate your help, my friend. God bless you.
