UK passport, Hong Kong - Guangdong - Taiwan/Macau

I am planning a trip leaving from Hong Kong to Guangdong (stay 5 days), after which I would like to visit Taiwan or Macau. As a UK passport holder is this trip valid for the 144 hours transit visa?

You must arrive in Guangdong by air, and have your confirmed onward ticket to show when you check in at Hong Kong.
