About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit via Urumqi

Can anyone confirm if Urumqi is included within 24hr TWOV policy? I will fly from Tokyo to Shenyang Taoxian, to Urumqi Tianshan International Airport and onto Kyrgyzstan. My total time in China will be less than 24 hours and I am flying on a UK passport. I have found mixed information if Urumqi allows 24hr TWOV and embassy nor airline can confirm.

Beth, you should not have any doubts because Urumqi is included in 24 hour visa free transit scheme without any doubt. Here I would like to inform you that you will perform all the entry formalities in Shenyang as it is always done in China, at the first point of landing. Upon your landing in Shenyang you will first approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets. After a short check you will be granted a permit and you will then head to the immigration and to the gate for your flight to Urumqi. When you arrive in Urumqi you will just cross the exit immigration and head to the gate for your gate for a flight to Kyrgyzstan. Please, be aware that the transit time is calculated from the time of your first scheduled arrival time (in Shenyang) until your final departure scheduled time (from Urumqi). Have a nice journey.
