About:Beijing Travel

I am traveling from USA to Hong Kong for 5 days. Then to Beijing for less than 144 hours.

Then to USA with a one hour layover in Hong Kong. Does the one hour layover in Hong Kong on the flight to the USA prevent me from going to PEK visa free? (I'm really coming from and going to different countries, but the layover on the way home is in the same airport as the one I came from)
Thanks!

So your route is USA-HK-BJ--HK-USA? You are not eligible for 144-hour visa-free transit because of one hour layover in HK.
