About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Humanitarian visa and 144 hour visa

HI.
I live in shanghai and are about to do my exit for good. My work permit has ended and I have applied and gotten a Humanitarian visa wich last until the 14th July.

I want to go on a last vacation to Bali before my final exit, which is from the 10th july- 20th July. I would then go back to shanghai ( though my Humanitarian visa is expired) and apply for a 144 hour visa to stay a few additional days. I heard somewhere that I can't apply for a 144 hour visa once I already have got issued a Humanitarian Visa.

Does anyone knows if I am able to get this 144 hour visa when I'm returning from my vacation?

Hello Daniel!

I will do exactly the same at the end of August before leaving China and going back to Italy. Shanghai-Jakarta, Jakarta-Shanghai (my resident permit will already be expired) then Italy.

Did you get any additional information? Did you inform your Embassy or the Flight company?

You are allowed to use 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai regardless of your expired humanitarian visa. There are simply no connections between the two. People sometimes see 144 hours visa free transit as some kind of visa and compare it with real visas. In reality, this is just a transit that has its well defined rules. The most important details are eligible itinerary and eligible citizenship. Your citizenship is fine and all you have to do is to create an itinerary Bali - Beijing - Europe that will not have any additional landings within mainland China. Basically, this is it.
