About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Taiwan to Shenzhen by plane then Hong Kong by ferry

I am planning to fly from Taiwan to Shenzhen for a business trip, and then from Shenzhen to take a ferry to Hong Kong, and then from Hong Kong back to Taiwan. Am I eligible for the 144 hours visa free? If I am, do I need to have the ferry ticket in advance before I get to Shenzhen, and where can I get the ferry ticket?

I have seen on some other place practically identical question, so I will paste here the same answer:

Yes, itinerary Taiwan - Shenzhen - Hong Kong is definitely eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in entire Guangdong province. Here you have to take care about several following details:

- Between your scheduled arrival in Shenzhen and your scheduled departure by ferry from Shenzhen to Hong Kong airport there has to be at least 25 hours difference to be eligible for this scheme. If you intend to stay less than 24 hours you will not be able to use visa free transit because on 24 hours visa free transit it is not allowed to travel to Hong Kong or Macau from Shenzhen!
- You will have to book your ticket for ferry even before your departure from Taiwan. You can do it thorough CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport Company website. They operate ferries (in reality catamarans) from Shekou Shenzhen port to Hong Kong airport.
- You will HAVE TO use exactly that ferry that you have bough your ticket for.

Basically this is it.

P.S. In case that you do not want to go immediately from Shenzhen Shekou port to Hong Kong airport, you will just book a ticket for Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal. So, you will know which destination in Hong Kong is more suitable for your needs. In reality, you can use a transfer to Hong Kong airport just in case that you intend to proceed by plane from Hong Kong to some other destination.
