About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Using 144 hour visa/ vacation - return ticket with one stop in Beijing

Hi, Im a Slovak (EU citizen authorized to use 144 hour free transit) travelling from Munich - via Beijing -to Hanoi in Vietnam with 20 hour layover in Beijing and then I will return back after 3 weeks from Hanoi - Beijing - to Munich with 16 hour layover in Beijing. I heard its better to check your luggage only to Beijing and then check it again before departure in Beijing so they let you pass through customs in any circumstances. This way you arent stucked at the airport in transit. Is it true ? Second question - Could I obtain a new 144 hour free transit again when returning back home so I dont have to wait 16 hours at the airport?

You won't be given 144 hours because your transits are under 24 hours. You'll be given 24 hours transit without visa. Whether you can enter China or not is up to Chinese immigration and whatever rules they have in place on that day. Because your transits are long I would expect you would be allowed to enter China, especially with a hotel reservation (which may or may not be refundable). Needing to collect bags may also be an acceptable reason, but it's not a guarantee because an agent from your airline can be sent to find and re-tag your bags without you.
