About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

I am travelling from Australia/NZ to Beijing for 5 - 6 days then traveling on to the US

Would I be able to use this 144 hour transit program and visit BJ without a Visa?

Thank you

Yes, if you have no other stops in China and travel on a passport from one of the qualifying countries.

If I want to use the 144 hour permit, do flights have to be Non-stop? Or can I fly Sydney (Australia) to HKG to PEK? Not leaving HKG airport, just flying through HKG to Beijing and then on to the US after my stay in Beijing. Thank you

Your flights in and out of China must be non-stop, but Hong Kong counts as an international destination for Chinese immigration purposes and therefore HKG-PEK-USA is permitted. All stops count, whether you leave the airport (or even the aircraft) or not.
