About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen - USA - XIAMEN - Manila - do i need a transit visa?

My kids and i are flying to the Philippines via Xiamen. 3 of us have a US Passport. Arriving Xiamen at 10 pm and leaving the next day at 6 pm. do we need a visa and what do we do when we get to xiamen airport?
airline claims they are paying for hotel but we need to pay for our taxi to hotel. Do we go through immigration?

You don't need a visa. It's very straightforward. You will go through immigration at the airport, and (assuming you're on Xiamen airline) they have a desk in the main part of the airport for you to get the hotel details. Show this to the taxi driver. It should cost less than RMB100 each way (last year I paid 50).
