Do I qualify for a free 144 hour visit to China without a Visa?

I am traveling from JFK to PVG(shanghai) for 3 days then leaving from SHA to Japan. Since they are different airports and are not direct flights, would I be allowed to use the 72 hour visa for passage through SH or do I need to apply for a Visa for China?

Don't worry! U can still utilize the 72/144 hours visa-free policy which is applicable in both airports in Shanghai.
