Do I need to get a transit visa for airline change at pvg?

I'm planning to book in China Eastern Airlines from the Philippines and the next airline going to LAX is United Airline. I'm just wondering if I need to collect my luggage and pass through the immigration and wait for my next flight to check in again? I love be having 13 hours layover time. What are the procedures that I have to go through? Do I need to get a visa as a Philippine passport holder or I'm granted a transit change or something else? Thanks!

First of all, you don't need to hold a visa for the transfer. If you hold the through ticket, it is no need to reclaim the luggage at PVG. The transit procedure is as follows:
Arriving - Confirm Onward Boaring Pass - Quarantine Inspection, Immigration and Security Check - International Departure Hall - Waiting and Boarding

While, suppose you book separate tickets, you have to recheck in at PVG.
