About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US-Manila-Shanghai-Osaka

Hi, if I'm flying out of Manila going to Shanghai (stay 3 days) and then to Osaka, is it acceptable to apply for the free transit?

It mentioned in the article that there is a deidcated immigration counter for the free transit. Is this counter open 24 hours? What if I arrive at Shanghai airport at around 1 am. Is it still open? Will I be experiencing trouble applying for the visa free transit?

Yes. If the counter is unstaffed, you'll need to use the ordinary lane.
