About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

24 hour transit via GZ/SZ

Under the 24-hour direct transit rule, no visa is required for international flight, ship, or train passengers who transit directly through mainland China and will stay for less than 24 hours. This policy is applicable to almost all nationalities. Passengers should hold tickets to a third country or region and have a confirmed seat.

So can I land at Gaungzhou or Shenzhen Airport, then transit to Hong Kong within 24 hours? I would cross at one of the Shenzhen ports, so would not have a travel document to HK, since it would just be via Taxi? Is this possible?

If you travel like Australia-Guangzhou or Shenzhen (24 hours)-HK, you will qualify for the 24 hour direct transit.

Once again, Shenzhen airport no longer has 24-hour transit since last December, so he won't be able to board his flight. Guangzhou is fine though.
