If your travel route is country A-Xiamen ( less than 24 hours)-HK-Shanghai(less than 144 hours)-Scotland, you will be able to enjoy the 24 hour direct transit and 144 hour free transit in Xiamen and Shanghai respectively, and then no visa will be needed.
