About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa for this?

I'm flying Paris to Wuhan non-stop arriving 9.35am, then later the same day flyling to Manila via Guangzhou. US passport.

Bradley, as you said, your total layover time in Wuhan and Guangzhou will be within 24 hours, right? If yes, you will qualify for the 24 hour direct transit. No visa will be needed then.

This itinerary DOES require a visa. Free multiple-stop transit is not allowed at Wuhan for US and Canadian passport holders. For free transit you must go from Wuhan directly to a 3rd country.
