About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need passport control during a 3- hour international transit at Beijing PEK?

I’m a Kyrgyz citizen flying from Bishkek to Tokyo Haneda in September on one through ticket with Air China: CA894 Bishkek–PEK–HND. The connection in PEK is about 3 hours, both flights are international and use Terminal 3. I'm not sure if I can transit China visa-free for up to 24 hours in this case. Do I need to pass Chinese immigration/passport control or get an entry stamp at Terminal 3, or can I remain airside in the transit area and proceed directly to my connecting flight? Air China’s PEK transfer instructions mention “Border Inspection,” so I’d appreciate any recent experience with this exact transit.

It is all very simple and easy. Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Also, since you are flying on a single (through) ticket via Beijing, you do not have to perform any formality nor will you fill out any forms. Also, you will not be a subject to immigration or customs inspections. Basically, you will just walk from one (arrival) to the other gate (departure) and between the two you will just encounter a security check (metal detector and the stuff). As you can see, it is all very straightforward and you can travel absolutely worry free. Instructions by Air China are definitely obsolete and they are relevant for those who transfer with two separate tickets and on the airports where there are no transit facilities such as at Beijing (Capital) airport. Have a nice journey.
