About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hongkong -> shanghai -> taiwan

I am a US citzien, so this is my up coming route: Hongkong to Shanghai, Shanghai to Taiwan. I will stay in Shanghai less than 72hours. Will I be qualified for the 72hrs visa-free?
