I'm a phd student at central china normal university currently in Maldives. Next May month i have to go PRC for phd thesis defense. I wish to apply for a tourist L type for two months. I have offered offer letter by my supervisor and informed to be in PRC next May month. Can i apply for Chinese visa here in Maldives or should i go back to India.

It's possible to apply for it from Maldives. You can try to apply for an F type or X2 type there.
