What is the meaning of " humanitarian visa" in China

I am a English teacher in Shenzhen, PRC. My work permit will be expired very soon on 15 July 2016. Moreover, my new work permit will be available in August 2016. The school ask me to apply a "humanitarian entry permit" in Shenzhen, but I am confused where I should go to apply. Plus, I don't even know what type of "humanitarian entry permit" is in PRC? Should I go to police station or else to apply? I would be so grateful if you can help me under this circumstance. Thank you very much !!

Max, because you have residence permit, after it expires, you will be given a 30-day tourist L type which is also called "humanitarian entry permit". It is issued to you to handle the relevant things before you leave PRC such as work permit and residence permit cancellation etc.
You should go to the police station to apply for it 7 days earlier before your residence permit expires.

Thanks James for your quick reply.
I have found that "humanitarian visa " means "Temporary Stay Visa 暫時停留簽證" in China. People should go to " Exit and Entry Bureau" which is under police station to apply for it. They will grant 30days if application is successful.
