About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

If I have a US passport and visiting Taiwan for a month, want to visit Beijing for 3 days,

2 days in Shenzhen and 2 days in HK but don't have a visa. Can I do it?

You mean you will go to Beijing and Shenzhen from Taiwan, after 5 days, you will go to HK? If so, you need to apply for a tourist L type in advance.
You can enjoy free entry to HK.
