About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do i qualify for the visa free policy if on a 4 days cruiseship trip

I am a romanian citizen and i travel on a 4 days cruise departing from Shanghai - Jeju Island (S.Korea) - Fukuoka (Japan), departing on 4th June and return on the 8th June, so i would like to know if i still qualify for the free transit, considering my country (Romania) is in the free entry list. Daniel, you fly to Shanghai from Romania and then take the cruise ship to South Korea, right? If yes, you can enjoy the free transit in Shanghai.
But after travel to Japan, you will return to Shanghai and then where you will go and how long you will stay in Shanghai? If it’s a third country or region rather than Japan after you stay in Shanghai for less than 144 hours, you can enjoy the free transit.
Anyway, can you be more specific about your travel plan?

thanks Cathy for your answer...I asked however at my consulate in Romania and they said i do need an entry permit after all, coz i will have 2 entries in China in a very short period of time. So i can not benefit the free transit after all...
