About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Valid route for 240hr TWOV policy?

I need to attend a 3 day business meeting in Shenzhen, 27th Oct to 31st.
I dont think there is enough time to apply for proper M visa, visit London etc.
Can I travel..?
i) UK to Shenzhen (3 days of business meetings) then to HongKong (1 day) then back to UK.
or ii) UK to HongKong (1 day) then to Shenzhen (3 days business meetings) then back to UK.
And still qualify for the 240 TWOV policy?

Yes, you can do that. In the first case, if you fly from UK directly (or visa some other mainland Chinese city) to Shenzhen and then after three days to Hong Kong you will be eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. You should just have in mind that you will have to buy your train or ferry ticket from Shenzhen to Hong Kong in advance, even before you depart from UK because you will be asked to present it in both UK (at the time of your check-in) and upon your landing in mainland China. Taking a train from Shenzhen to Hong Kong is much easier, cheaper and more convenient. So, calculate precisely and book your train ticket to Hong Kong that coincides with the end of your business meeting. If you take the second option, in that case, you should take a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen (operated by CKS ferry company - this is the only valid and eligible way of entry from Hong Kong to Shenzhen when traveling under 240 hour visa free transit). When you are done with your business meeting you will take a flight from Shenzhen to UK. When traveling on 240 hour visa free transit your flight from Shenzhen to UK can have additional landing within mainland China. There is also a third option. After your short stay in Hong Kong you can take a suburban train to Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing any apply for a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival. This is a straightforward procedure and the price of visa is affordable 130 CNY. When you are done with your business meeting you can return to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and also any mean of transport, high speed train included. Also, you can depart from Shenzhen toward UK by a plane, but in this case, it has to be a nonstop flight from Shenzhen to London, without a single landing in some other mainland China city. Now, when you have options presented, you will easily decide which one will you choose for your travel plans. Have a nice journey.
