About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

taiwan to hongkong to shanghai. then back to taiwan.

if I take a flight from taiwan to hongkong then to shanghai, then back to taiwan am I able to use the 72 hrs entry permit? I have a USA passport.

Steven, it's possible that you can use the 72hrs free transit policy, but there is a chance that you might be refused. The officer may take it for granted that you want to avoid applying for the mainland entry permit.
