About:China Visa Application in USA

Do I have to get another visa?

I have one for short term study but i decided not to do the study and go for a visit only for a shorter time.

Yap, I don't think it's necessary to get another one. However, if you want to play safe, you can get a tourist L type or conver the X type into an L type after you enter China.
