I want to go to Beijing to see the Great Wall by enjoying the 72-hour free transit

I am a United States citizen and will be traveling to India for a week. On my return flight I would like to travel from India through Beijing to the US (so that I can see the Great Wall). Would I be eligible for the 72-Visa-Free-Transit in Beijing?
