Layover/Connecting flight booked in package - Baggage procedure

I will have 8hours layover (I'm flying from Paris to Osaka via Shanghai) at PuDong and wondered, if I check out with Maglev, will I have to take care of my luggage or is it being taken care of and I can roam around freely until my connecting flight departs?
I don't really understand the map on PVG website...

I didn't book the connecting flight from PuDong to Osaka separately and according to my flight information the operating Airline is Eastern China Airline throughout the whole trip (Pu Dong website, however, states that at the time of my departing flight to Osaka only Shanghai Airlines operates - if true, is that a problem regarding my luggage question?)
Other than that, I'm German so 72 hour visa regulation applies.

I would be very grateful if someone who is experienced with Pu Dong, China Eastern/Shanghai Airlines layover could help me a bit, as I'm terribly confused...

For passengers with Eastern China Airlines, they don't need to take care of the lugagge when transit in SH. The luggage will be automatically transported to the final destination. To ensure a smooth trip, you'd better consult your airlines in advance for this issue.

And yes, you are eligible for the 72h visa free transit. No visa is needed. If you wanna get out of the airport, tell this to your airline before boarding the plane and you will be granted a transit permit.
