About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Pakistani passport 12 hour layover.

I am travelling from dxb to brisbane australia on a pakistani passport with china southern airline in business class. I have 12 hour layover in Guangzhou. I read china southern provides accommodation for long layovers but hotel is outside the transit area. Will they allow me to go to hotel for my layover? Or i have to stay inside the airport in transit area.

Your itinerary and your transit will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa, this is the most important detail. Upon your landing in Guangzhou you have two options. In other words, if you do not intend to exit the airport, you will just walk from one to the other gate and you do not need to perform any formality nor to fill out any form. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspections. However if you want to exit the airport in that case the first thing that you will do upon landing in Shanghai will be to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight itinerary and your hotel booking accommodation if you plan to have a hotel stay. This application is free of any charge. In any case, it is important to understand the fact that the issuing of the temporary entry permit is not a passenger's right, but a bonus that is offered based on discretionary decision to those with long layovers, disabled passengers and those with small children. In any case, you should try and hopefully it will be resolved in your favor especially if you have a hotel booking with Chinese airline as Southern definitely is, although you can expect both outcomes. In the case of the negative outcome, you will just wait for your next flight in the transit zone of Shanghai airport. I wish you a success and a pleasant journey.
